Esme est une fervente avocate de l’implication profonde des municipalités dans la mise en oeuvre des infrastructures de haut débit, très haut débit, accès internet sans fil,  dans l’intérêt des consommateurs. Elle a été l’une des toutes premières aux Etats Unis à militer activement pour le WiFi public gratuit et accessible partout. Elle s’intéresse de près au haut débit rural, au très haut débit, à la neutralité du Net etc…

Pour elle, les nouveaux enjeux des municipalités, au delà d’une certaine maîtrise des télécommunications sur leur territoire passent par une meilleure compréhension et un meilleur usage des infrastructures électriques.
